By this evening I'll have seen seven Broadway shows in five days. Megahits from last year's season: the moving Spring Awakening, hilarious Legally Blonde and fun Curtains, plus from this season: three entertaining shows based on movies: Young Frankenstein, The Little Mermaid and Cry-Baby. But my absolute favourite is In the Heights, an exciting Latino musical that I'm picking to win a swag of Tony Awards tomorrow night.
You can watch sneak previews of all these shows at broadwayworld.com. (Click on Multimedia, TV/Video.) Every performance is getting a standing ovation from rapt fans.
Tourists can be solemn when it's appropriate. There's a poignant mood amongst the crowds gazing at Ground Zero. I'm probably the only one who felt a little disappointed. This is my third visit to the huge construction site since the 2001 attacks and although there's a lot of building activity going on they still haven't reached ground level.
