Los Angeles, 1 June

Reporting from the Los Angeles Public Library.

I spent most of the day at the Huntington Art Gallery, Museum and Library: the best private collection I've come across. Sorry, Getty, Wallace, Frick, Guggenheim & co. It's amazing what vast wealth and impeccable taste can achieve.

Today was a huge contrast with yesterday when I visited Hollywood: full of artificial schlock and wannabes masquerading as stars.

Tomorrow: Mexico City.
